Lore |
Wise and welcome is the lore
passed on down by fathers fore
down faded trails of yester-yore,
told and retold evermore.
They learned the lore when they were young.
They braved the wild unknown
when legends lived and songs were sung
of portage, pool and stone.
They walked the paths that led them deep
into the lonely places,
up mountain high, down river steep.
I still see their faces.
I sense them near me as they go
into their world of mystery.
Though they passed by long ago,
their lore is living history.
Reach out and touch a rock
